An early morning pickup from your Marrakech lodging marks the start of your four-day
Morocco desert trip. The trip begins with traversing the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains
via Morocco's highest mountain pass, the well-known Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2260 m). Enjoy
stunning sweeping vistas of terraced farms, authentic Berber communities, and striking
mountain scenery as you go.
We go to the fabled Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of
Morocco's most well-known fortified settlements, after making a few picturesque stops. This
historic ksar is well-known for its role in numerous worldwide motion pictures and television
shows, including Lawrence of Arabia, Game of Thrones, and Gladiator. You'll have time to
explore the kasbah's mud-brick lanes and eat lunch at a neighborhood eatery with a view of
the old village.
The trip continues through Ouarzazate, sometimes referred to as the "Hollywood of Africa,"
where numerous well-known films were shot, in the afternoon. After that, we travel over the
fabled Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to Kalaat Mgouna, the center of Morocco's Rose Valley,
which is well-known for its yearly Rose Festival and rose-based cosmetics.
to last, we arrive to the stunning Dades Valley, which is renowned for its striking rock
formations and verdant oasis settings. We'll have dinner and spend the night in a quaint riad
or hotel in the Dades Valley.
After breakfast, we begin the day exploring the stunning Dades Valley, famous for its winding
mountain roads and unique rock formations known as “Monkey Fingers”. The valley offers
spectacular viewpoints over palm groves and traditional Berber villages.
We then travel towards Tinghir and the impressive Todra Gorge, one of the most spectacular
natural sites in southern Morocco. These towering limestone cliffs reach up to 300 meters
high and form a narrow canyon that is popular with rock climbers from around the world. You
will have time to walk through the gorge, enjoy the refreshing river, and admire the dramatic
canyon scenery.
After lunch along the route, the journey continues through the desert gateway towns of
Erfoud and Rissani, famous for their date markets and fossil workshops. By late afternoon
we arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the majestic dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Here begins one of the highlights of your Morocco desert tour: a camel trekking experience
across the golden Sahara dunes. Guided by experienced camel handlers, you will ride
through the breathtaking dunes of Erg Chebbi while enjoying the magical colors of the desert
at sunset.
After approximately 1–1.5 hours of camel trekking, you arrive at a traditional Sahara desert
camp nestled among the dunes. Enjoy a warm Moroccan dinner, traditional Berber music
around the campfire, and a magical night under the star-filled desert sky in comfortable
desert tents.
Wake up early to witness an unforgettable sunrise over the Sahara Desert dunes, one of the
most beautiful natural experiences in Morocco. After sunrise, you return by camel or 4x4
vehicle to the village of Merzouga where breakfast and a refreshing shower await.
We then begin the journey north towards Fes, passing through the scenic landscapes of the
Ziz Valley, famous for its vast palm groves and spectacular oasis views. We continue
through the Atlas Mountains to the town of Midelt, where we stop for lunch.
In the afternoon, we drive through the Cedar Forest of Azrou, home to the famous Barbary
macaque monkeys, where you may have the chance to see and photograph these playful
animals in their natural habitat.
Next we visit Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco” because of its alpine
architecture, clean streets, and beautiful parks. After a short stop for photos near the famous
Stone Lion statue, we continue the final part of the journey to Fes, one of Morocco’s most
historic imperial cities. Overnight in a traditional riad or hotel in Fes.
After breakfast, you will have some time to explore parts of Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial
city, famous for its UNESCO-listed medina, historic madrasas, traditional tanneries, and
vibrant souks.
Later in the morning we depart north toward the breathtaking Rif Mountains, heading to one
of Morocco’s most photogenic destinations: Chefchaouen, also known as the Blue Pearl of
Morocco.
The drive offers beautiful views of mountain landscapes and rural villages. Upon arrival in
Chefchaouen, you will immediately notice the city’s famous blue-painted streets and
buildings, which create a unique and peaceful atmosphere.
Your tour ends upon arrival in Chefchaouen, where you can begin exploring the charming
medina, picturesque alleys, local handicraft shops, and scenic viewpoints overlooking the Rif
Mountains.
